Mission + History
It started with the goal to explore Risograph as an artistic practice after learning it outside of a formal school setting (hence its name 'Bad Student') where it fully embraced its DIY (’Do-It-Yourself’) publishing process. It is the first independent Art Risograph Press in the Philippines since 2017. Focused on creating art books and prints, showcasing a collection of works from local creative communities in the Philippines.
In 2024, Bad Student opened another studio in Queens, New York USA. Led by Pau Tiu and Felize Camille – a queer, Filipino couple who immigrated to New York with big dreams ✴ The studio has been producing community building programs, including free or donation-based artist talks, print workshops, and community art events that strive to highlight and expand the DIY publishing culture in Queens.
